It's Been A Nice Day
Today I found the sweetest envelope in my mailbox with this little card inside from /Vicki at Whispers of Inspiration. Thanks Vickie. It's very pretty, and your envelope was as much fun as your card!

I'm considering making some of my pieces available on ETSY. I'd like your opinions. Do you think they make nicer prints, or are they better suited as note cards?
I've been busy making cakes today. I have several designs in mind and am looking forward to working on this one.
I have six layers ready for a three tier cake that will be 10", 8" and 6" tiers. Each one should be about four inches tall when finished.
If you like butter cake, this is an amazing recipe. You have to make it twice in order to make three tiers. This will make half.
INGREDIENTS:
5 cups all purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
pinch salt
2 cups (4 sticks) unsalted sweet butter, softened
5 cups sugar
6 large eggs (please buy cage free eggs)
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
2 cups sour cream
DIRECTIONS
1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees
2. Butter and flour cake pans
3. Sift together dry ingredients
4. In a separate bowl cream butter and 4 1/2 cups sugar
5. Add vanilla
6. Add dry ingredients to the egg mixture, alternating with the sour cream
7. Put batter into prepared cake pans and sprinkle the remaining sugar on top of batter
8. Bake for one hour, or until a cake tester comes out clean when inserted into the center of your cake.
9. Cool the cakes in their pans
10. Invert them onto a rack, but quickly turn them over because you'll want to protect the sugary part that is on the top.
Note: When you fill your cakes place the top sides together with the filling inbetween

Hi Cookie,
I was reading your recipe and wondered what size cake pans are you using?

Hey, cookie,
Are you familiar with Barbara Levallee? She does contemporary Eskimo art which is very colorful and fun. Her artwork has appeared as prints, cards, even books. "Mama do you love me?" Take a look at her site and you'll see what I mean. Her work is very popular. I'm thinking I've seen it on mugs, possibly sweatshirts.
I guess the question is where to start. Levallee has many things (small prints and postcard sized pieces) which only cost a few dollars.

Let me know what you think.

P.S. I LOVE the little dancer!

That'll be some cake! I like to cook but i don't really bake much.
In response to your comment, I love line dried linen too... I dont have (or wish to have) a drier, Its better for the planet that way and with only me and my partner its not a problem to hang stuff up. In winter i just have to pick the right days to do the washing!

I'm glad you like the card. It was fun to do. The cake recipe looks good. I think I'll have to try it. How many layers does this cake make? You've inspired me with all your cakes, although I can't do anything fancy. At least my family could enjoy a yummy cake!

That recipe sounds scrumptious! When I was a kid I made a chocolate cake that had sour cream in it! Adorable ballerina I think you could do both prints and cards.

Yumm! You've made me hungry. Yes!!! Do these as notecards AND prints! Either/or they're lovely illustrations. I think maybe the cards might be more marketable, simply because people buy cards over and over and prints normally just once.

Cookie,
I love the little Dancer drawing it is just delightful. I think they would make great note cards. Go for it. Hope mom is doing well. Tell her happy Mother's Day from me. Good luck with the cake. Maybe this could be your 2nd or 3rd line of work. HUh?
Take Care,
Mya

The dancer is cute. Its tricky to decide. I myself more often by notecards than print because I never seem to get round to framing prints or putting them up where as I send notecards often therefore i am able to share the images with others.
Hope that is of some help.
